Marketing Intern - New York
The Asia Society, a leading non-profit cultural and educational institution, seeks a marketing intern to provide support to the Department of Marketing and Advertising, Marketing and Communications Division.
Responsibilities include updating programming information on websites; compiling program evaluation and museum survey data,
proofreading/editing ads and other correspondence; conducting research
on potential marketing venues; collaborating with other organizations
and museums; general administrative support; and working on special
projects.
To qualify, you must be a team player, creative, enthusiastic, a highly
poised individual with strong organizational skills, and have attention
to detail. Excellent writing, editing, and communications skills are
required. Solid PC skills are also a must (Raiser's Edge experience is
helpful) and an interest in Asia is a plus. We are looking for someone
who is currently a student in college and can devote a minimum of three
days a week at a minimum of 15 hours a week. We are also looking for a
commitment of two semesters. This is an unpaid internship.

Merchandising Intern – New York
AsiaStore at the Asia Society is now accepting applications for a Merchandising Intern for Fall 2008. The internship is open to college students who are interested in a career in fashion merchandising.
As an AsiaStore Merchandising Intern, you will be exposed to all facets of the AsiaStore retail operation, including product management, merchandising, and marketing. An AsiaStore Merchandising internship is an opportunity to be creative and work on projects that are important to AsiaStore’s success.
Responsibilities include: Assisting AsiaStore merchants with product management; maintaining web site and blog postings; preparing promotional and marketing materials; coordinating special store events.
Qualifications: Strong computer skills; familiarity with Photoshop, blogging, Flickr; strong communication and writing skills; excellent organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks; ability to work independently and implement merchandising/marketing directives.
Internship is nonpaid, but academic credit can be offered. Schedule is flexible.

Education Web Intern - New York
Asia Society is seeking a volunteer intern with experience in instructional design to help develop and implement an online content strategy for our K-12 youth education audiences. The Education Web Intern will help devise a process to capture Asia Society public programming on historical topics about Asia and contemporary global issues to create online educational resources and interactive features for youth.
Responsibilities: Assist in developing criteria for assessing content for educational use and documenting a protocol for capturing educational content in a variety of media formats. Capture and edit Asia Society public programming through video, audio, and text, identifying and designing supplemental educational content to provide background and context.
Qualifications: Education background or work experience in educational communication and technology, instructional theory, and educational approaches for informal learning environments, especially online. Experience with Internet technologies, HTML, Flash, Photoshop, and web audio/video production required; excellent research and writing skills; background in Asian studies or international affairs preferred.
Schedule: Summer and/or fall—start and end dates flexible. Part-time or full-time. This is an unpaid internship.

Interns – San Francisco
Asia Society Northern California presents some 50 public-education programs annually that explore Asian cultural, economic and political affairs. We offer long and short-term (minimum of 8 weeks) internships with opportunities to focus on the following areas: membership research and reports; development planning; media outreach; program design and support; and office administration. Interns work closely with development, administrative, and program staff to plan and execute a wide variety of public programs and development initiatives. Interns gain valuable, hands-on experience in non-profit management and Asian affairs.
Qualifications: knowledge and curiosity about Asian and Asian American issues, culture, and Asian-focused activities; excellent communication, research and writing skills; strong organization and project management skills, with ability to focus on details and meet deadlines; flexibility and ability to work on multiple projects concurrently in highly-paced, entrepreneurial environment; ability to take initiative and work independently.
Seniors, recent graduates, and graduate students in Asian and Asian-American studies, business, history, the social sciences, or related fields preferred; office experience preferred but not required.
Schedule: we ask a minimum commitment of 16 hours per week for a minimum of 8 weeks. Though internships are unpaid, interns are encouraged to participate in all programs offered by the Center during the internship.
For applicants (including non-students) who are not able to meet this time commitment, we can often offer more flexible volunteer opportunities as well.
