ASIA ANTIQUES ROADSHOW EXPERT HOLDS APPRAISAL FAIR ON ASIAN ART

WHO: The Asia Society Texas offers collectors and antique enthusiasts a unique opportunity to have treasures appraised by Mr. Lark E. Mason, Sotheby’s curator and an appraiser on the PBS television show “Antiques Roadshow.” He has written numerous articles on Asian art and evaluated many pre-eminent collections
WHAT: The evening begins with a reception at 6:00 p.m. and a speech by Mason beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the Study of Asian Art, which he says can be daunting even for experts. The fee for this event is $10 for members; $15 for nonmembers. The Appraisal Fair/Book Signing starts at 7:30 and ends at 9:30 p.m.
After the talk, participants can attend the “Appraisal Fair/Book Signing” where Mason will appraise personal antiques, including non-Asian objects (except for weapons) and sign his latest book, “Asian Art.” The charge for a verbal appraisal of one (1) item (two (2) for Asia Society members) and a copy of “Asian Art” is $65 (the price of the book alone). Each additional appraisal is $10, with a maximum of three (3) items per person. Mr. Mason will also make limited in-home evaluations during the day.
