American International Group

American International Group, Inc. (AIG) is the leading international insurance organization, with operations in more than 130 countries and jurisdictions. AIG companies serve commercial, institutional and individual customers through the most extensive worldwide property-casualty and life insurance networks of any insurer. In addition, AIG companies are leading providers of retirement services, financial services and asset management.

AIG was founded in Shanghai in 1919, making it one of the few, and perhaps only, American corporations to trace its roots directly to China and Asia. AIG was also the first foreign insurer to return to China, which it did in 1992. From its inception, AIG has never lost focus on greater Asia.  In fact, in many Asian markets today, AIG companies are the largest and best-known insurers in both life and general insurance, and they are establishing a significant presence in many emerging economies, including China, India and Vietnam.

AIG companies are also well recognized for the contributions they have made over time to the furtherance and modernization of Asian markets, as well as for their long-standing tradition of giving back to the communities they serve, notably by supporting important educational, healthcare and infrastructure development projects, among others.
